If you have trellis at home and you don’t want to lose it for the next year, surely you have asked yourself more than once the question of how to get trellis seeds.
Maybe you didn’t even think about it and saw how the plant died, and with the onset of spring, in the pot or the place where you had it, you saw how small trellis plants. If this has happened to you and you want to know how to get trellis seeds, this information we got may be worth it. Go for it?
trellis reproduction

Before talking about trellis seeds, you should know in depth how the trellis reproduces in order to know what techniques exist to multiply it and especially to obtain new plants.
In this case, the trellis plant has a peculiarity and that is that even when it dies (usually because we water too much), it can multiply in just about 15-20 days.
There are two ways to multiply a lattice:
The first goes through the division of the network. Of course, there must be two or more rods to be able to separate them. You have to be very careful because it is very sensitive and very fragile, so if you break the stem, you already have the problem that the plant will not continue. It is better to do it with dry ground to avoid and always with a warm temperature (to be able to stress as little as possible).
The second option is through seeds. These are usually obtained when the plant is already dying (because it has completed its cycle) since they are in the sweetest area of the plant (in the colorful feathers it produces). But they can also be obtained if we had a water problem with the plant (that it died due to excessive watering) or even because, as we have already mentioned, the stem has broken. You have to wait for it to dry out before you can plant the seeds (or save them for the following spring). In most cases, they get ahead.
How to Get Trellis Seeds

As you have seen, trellis seeds are on the plant at all times. And removing them is very easy. But unfortunately, to get them and for them to be ripe (and there is a greater likelihood that they will germinate), you have to wait for the plant to dry out.
At this point, the plant’s own feathery parts will expose the seeds, and if you move it a little, they will fall to the ground. This is the reason why your plant can revive every year, because its seeds fall on the substrate and germinate from there.
You can leave them there or take this soil and mix it with new, although we recommend doing this before the seeds fall to avoid planting the seeds too deep (this is something that is not going to be good for you as many may be lost and not germinate or rot).
We have seen that some also ask for other methods to remove seeds from the network, but the truth is that there is only this one. Indeed, if you cut a trellis branch, you will have to wait 2-3 days for it to dry before using the seeds. You’re not going to get them to thrive by planting that branch directly (in fact, it may take longer and you’ll be less likely to appear (it may rot before them)).
How long do seeds take to come out?

Once you have the trellis seeds, planting them is very easy. All you have to do is fill a pot almost to the brim with good quality soil.
Next, you need to discard the trellis seeds. If it’s because one of the plants is dead, you can break it and throw it on the ground because, although it may be difficult to see with the naked eye, it has seeds and we can also grow another new plant from it.
These seeds are very gently covered with a layer of soil and watered. To prevent them from moving or the soil causing them to appear, you can water with a spray (but always ensure that the soil is very moist, enough to last a few days).
Then you must leave it in an area where there are no currents and which is in the shade. It will last only 3 days, because later you can see the tips come out and after 15-20 days you can have a small plant. Hopefully you can get out several stencils (there will be many) and you can separate them and plant them each in an individual pot. In this case, you will not need to move them to a shady place. But you can already place them in partial shade for 8-10 days so that they can get a head start. What is practical is that you have to add water to make the soil moist. Especially since these are plants that are very stressed during the transplant. After this time, you will only have to put it in full sun. And after one and a half or two months, you can start fertilizing it (in this case, grain fertilizer is better).
As far as care is concerned, the most important thing is undoubtedly irrigation, since it is a plant that needs water but if you add too much it will die very quickly. In fact, you’ll notice it drying out, which makes you think it needs more water when it doesn’t. The trick to controlling it is to see that the soil is moist and not waterlogged and no water until it looks dry.
Of course, what we have to tell you is that the seeds of a mother plant do not mean that they will come out the same way as her. In fact, this plant does not have this condition. Sometimes seeds of lower quality (and others of much higher quality) can come out.
Now that you know how to get trellis seeds, you will have no excuse to have more of these plants. They grow quickly and you can get different colors. This way, you won’t throw away plants that dry out without first giving them a second chance. Have you done this before? How was the process?
