The blade machine It is a very useful power tool for those who want to do organic farming, as it allows you to work large areas while maintaining the natural fertility of the land.
Although the passage of the plow modifies the balance of the soil the shovel does not disturb useful microorganisms as it does not turn over clods, which makes it ideal for those who want to use natural cultivation methods. The pallet machine can work even when the ground is very wet what other agricultural machines often do not.
The most common blade machines are machines dedicated to the professional farmer, to be used with the tractor as a tractor. There is also small shovels or shovels to apply on the tiller , also called shovels, useful for working the soil in greenhouses, on cliffs or between rows and more suited to the needs of those who cultivate the garden. The tillage type of this power tool is especially useful in heavy, clay soils.

How the Blade Making Machine Works
The working method of the excavator uses the concept of the manual shovel : The blade penetrates the soil vertically and splits the clod, cutting it from the sole of the soil. Depending on the model, there are tools prepared to more or less crumble the soil, presenting it even level and ready as a seedbed.
This type of agricultural machinery consists of a horizontal axis, to which several blades are connected that penetrate the ground in constant and continuous alternation. blades in general connect to PTO from a tractor in the case of professional models, or to the tiller in the case of small machines. There are also shovels, that is, small shovels with their own engine, suitable for those who want to cultivate their garden without having to use a plow.
The first shovel was made by the Gramegna brothers in 1965 , the year in which it was presented as an innovative machine at the Fieragricola in Verona. Since then the mechanisms have been perfected and this agricultural machine has become very popular, the Gramegna company remains a reference in Italy and abroad for this type of tool.
Advantages of the Sword
-
The soil without turning over the clods (fundamental in organic farming, as we will see in the next paragraph).
-
It can also work in wet ground when the cultivator and the plow need to stop.
-
Does not create working soles.
-
It has, on average, less consumption than a plow of the same depth, because it has less to move the earth.
In my opinion, there are two faults: the first is that the $0027the plow is more effective in destroying weeds on the ground they are damaged by shoveling but often the grass quickly recovers from the remaining root parts. The second drawback is that it is a complex machine there is no economical version suitable for those who cultivate small plots.
Blades with their own engine cost several thousand euros, they are more affordable than blades applied to the tiller, although they are beyond the reach of small home gardens. On the other hand, the complexity of the mechanism also brings advantages: the transmission box and the seals of many blades (for example, the aforementioned Gramegna blades) are sealed, permanently lubricated, so that the user never have to intervene with maintenance reducing complications compared to a motorcycle equipped with a simple rotary tiller.
Why plow without turning
Gramegna shovel machine for tillers
Tillage is a fundamental operation to be able to properly cultivate the garden. Those who cultivate organically in particular must take care of the natural fertility of the soil, which is guaranteed by the microorganisms present. Properly functioning microorganisms process the organic substance, making it available to plants and preventing the rot that leads to disease.
Rotation of clods as occurs when plowing has the contraindication to kill many of these organisms: those that live at greater depths are anaerobic and suffer if they are brought to the surface, those that are at ground level rather need air to live, so they should not be buried . The plow works by turning and its passage inevitably upsets the balance.
On top of that the ploughshare, like the cultivator of the tillers, hits the working ground and creates a deep tillage sole which can cause problems by compromising water drainage and facilitating stagnation.
Therefore, plowing does not necessarily have a positive effect on the soil, those who grow organically should avoid doing it, plowing the soil is much better go with a machine shovel to break up the clod . This operation can also be done manually using a shovel or shovel fork, but this is of course not a viable solution for those who cultivate large areas.
