Celery is a vegetable of Mediterranean origin, also known by the scientific name of Apium graveolens. It has been used as a medicinal plant since the ancient Greeks and has always been appreciated for flavoring soups. As well as being aromatic, celery is often eaten fresh, chewing the stalks with pinzimonio. There are several varieties of celery, among them, in addition to the classic coastal celery, there is also turnip celery, the root of which is eaten and can be considered a different vegetable.
The celery plant is an umbrella (like carrots and parsley) with a two-year cycle, its cultivation is simple and it is very adaptable. The cultivation of this vegetable does not require any special care, except for blanching to obtain more tender stems to eat.

Climate and relief
Climate. Celery likes temperate climates that see the thermometer around 20 degrees and fears frost, which can lead to early flowering. It prefers the sun but also tolerates cultivation in partial shade.
Usually I. The ideal for celery is a soil rich in organic matter, constantly moist without stagnation. The celery bed must be worked deeply to obtain a supple and draining soil. It can be fertilized with compost or mature manure, to be distributed sparingly.

Sow . Celery is always transplanted into the garden, as its initial growth stage is very slow and therefore if sown directly into the garden, it would occupy the space of the bed for too long. The transplant should be done when the seedling has grown more than 4-5 cm, a size that celery reaches two months after germination. A double graft is often performed: first in the nursery, then in a pot, on the first true tick leaf (celery cotyledons are very small). From the pot, it will eventually reach its final destination in the garden.
planting period . Sowing in a bucket takes place at the end of winter, between February and March, taking into account the growth time of the seedling, it is not recommended to go further. The transplant can be done from May to the end of July.
Sixth of the installation. The distance to grow celery in the garden is 35 x 35 centimeters, with this space the plants can develop well.
