Spray nozzles. Use of spray nozzles

Talking about spray nozzles is of interest to all of us who like to grow organically without using any type of chemical remedy. We are aware that our plants are exposed to a multitude of diseases and pests that can endanger the harvest.

Spray nozzles

That is why in the blog I always try to bring home remedies that we can use both to fight pests and diseases naturally. For all these remedies that I bring you, it is important that we use it as a preventive measure or to fight the plague or the disease to use a good sprayer.

Spray nozzles: why are they important?

Although it may seem unimportant, the effectiveness of the treatment is directly related to the coverage (i.e. the amount of treatment we spray on the leaf) and the size of the drop obtained with the sprayer. , both of these parameters are achieved through spray nozzles and spray pressure. The vast majority of sprayers have only one nozzle, without being able to adjust these parameters in any way.

For this reason, although we have talked about it in other articles, it is important to buy a quality sprayer like the Matabi sprayers because in addition to being those of a lifetime, they are very aware of this problem. That’s why all sprayers include a pressure regulator and spray nozzle kit as standard. These allow us to adapt the characteristics of the spray to our needs.

Types of spray nozzles

We are going to focus in this article on something important, like choosing the right spray nozzle. We must take this into account so that the application is effective and reaches each plant. But on this subject, it is important to keep in mind that each treatment has a different need and the pressure and flow characteristics may be different for each application.

In the case of quality sprayers such as Matabi sprayers, all backpacks come with a spray nozzle kit that allows you to adapt to the following needs depending on the nozzle that is placed on the sprayer:

adjustable cone

It is perfect for specific applications. What makes them special is that their taper can be adjusted depending on the application one wants to make. With the cone open, we can spray small extensions with a fine jet that is optimal for insecticide and fungicide treatments. With the cone closed, however, we get a thicker droplet size that is optimal for herbicide applications, primarily for weed control in corners of paths and between tiles.

conical hollow

Unlike the adjustable nozzle, its jet, at a fixed pressure, is constant and does not vary. This type of nozzle generates a fine droplet size providing excellent coverage to protect our plants over a large area. The Matabi kit offers 2 solutions for this type of nozzle for the fogger: On the one hand the yellow ones for dense and leafy foliage and the orange ones with a lower flow rate in order to save product in applications for low leafy foliage.

Low-drift fan

These nozzles are perfect for clearing weeds in the orchard and garden as they generate large droplets to avoid drift effect (an effect in which droplets are deflected by the wind away from the application area).

Mirror

These nozzles generate a wider spray angle which allows us to apply twice as much area as flat fan nozzles, covering a width of 160cm. Which makes them perfect for saving time working in large extensions.

choose nozzles

In the video that I leave you below, they explain in a much more graphic and simple way the differences between one spray nozzle and another, but above all the advantages of using a type of nozzle depending on what one going to do (spraying, herbicides, special irrigation, etc.).

I hope this article will help you because it has helped me to understand that not all sprayers are created equal and that it is more than important to choose a good sprayer for our garden, especially to apply our natural remedies, since Poor application by a poor quality sprayer can mean that the treatment is not equally effective in all plants.
