Succulents have several specimens of dark foliage. Although some plants are almost black, many are dark purple or, less commonly, dark blue. But regardless of its exact hue, its dark leaves can provide a stark color contrast to plants with shiny leaves. Check out eight very striking and easy to care for dark colored succulents.
Many types of Sempervivum have dark foliage. The aptly named Sempervivum ‘Black’ is one of them. Often the types of plants labeled as black plants show their dark color at the tips of the leaves.

5. Echeveria ‘Black Night’ – Echeveria affinis
Another of the dark colored succulents that is visibly black is Echeveria ‘Black Knight’ or Black Night by its name in English. It is particularly attractive when developing new leaves.
There is a contrast between the lighter inner leaves (which are the new ones) on the rosette and the darker outer leaves.
As with all succulents, the outer leaves should be removed as they die to prevent them from harboring aphids and other pests.

This is one of the tallest dark leaf succulents on this list. The species name, arboreum, comes from the Latin arboreus, which means “of a tree”.

This beautiful succulent with dark leaves has very interesting foliage, of a deep burgundy color that sometimes approaches black.
