Another option would be to look for ripe fruit on the ground, as once fully ripe they tend to fall off. Although in this way we do not make sure to choose the best fruits, it would be a faster and also valid option.

STEP BY STEP TO GET CUCAMELON SEEDS

Once we have the ripe fruits, we must continue the process of obtaining the seeds. For this we must extract the seeds from the fruit trying not to break any, as in the video that I leave below where I show step by step how to do it. In any case, simply with a knife we edge all the skin that protects them, without sticking it too much then we press the seeds in a jar or a glass.

These seeds are protected by a gelatinous film which must be removed in the same way as was done to extract the cucumber seeds and the tomato seeds. We therefore fill and cover our seeds with water and leave for a few days to ferment and remove this protective film.

After 4 or 5 days we are ready to clean our seeds from the organic remains that do not interest us, so with a strainer and water we clean them little by little and remove all the remains. We have to let them dry out before storing them and saving them for the next season. We can put them on a plate, bowl or similar on the counter or near a window, where we can move them a little daily so that they do not stick to us.

HOW LONG DO CUCAMELON SEEDS LAST?

After a few days we can store our cucamelon seeds, for example I use the typical zip bags which suit me perfectly. It is important to label the bag or jar where the seeds are stored, and more precisely it is important put the date in which we took the seeds and I also like to put the planting season.

We must write down the year in which we collect the seeds, because all the seeds have a certain viability or germination power in which we can keep them. In some cultures it is superior to others but it is not advisable to store or save the seeds for more than 5 years.

I leave you with the video explaining step by step how to get our seeds (here is a guide to all the seeds we can get ), then it is important store and keep our seeds in a good place and know that all seeds have a viability in time to germinate. Moreover, as I comment in the video, it is interesting to make a germination test to see the feasibility or if we have done the whole process well.
