Homemade bottle wasp trap that works

Today we are going to learn how to make a homemade wasp trap out of a bottle that really works. We have already talked about the wasp and the benefits it has for the garden. These insects can in some cases control pests and pollinate plants. But it is also true that many people fear them, even are allergic to their bites, with the serious consequences that this has on their health.

And although, as I mentioned above, they are excellent allies in the garden, I understand that anyone who is afraid of them wants to fight them. And not only for common wasps, but also to control the fearsome asian hornet (we will need to make a slightly larger entrance) that we fear so much on our land and especially beekeepers, since they destroy entire hives of bees, which are almost essential for the pollination of our fruits.

How to make wasp traps

As you can see in the next part of my channel where I learn how to make a homemade wasp trap, it’s very simple.

The first thing we do is put about a third of the water in a plastic bottle, it can be a liter or a liter and a half. We add a little liquid dish soap, so the wasps have a harder time getting out of the water, due to the stickiness that is created.

The next thing we do is make side holes, with scissors or a cutter. The hole will be small, about the size of a finger, to make it difficult for them to find it and use it as an exit.

Asian hornet attacks bees

The Asian hornet can attack bees, but this is not their main target. Asian wasps prefer to attack Native American wasps, which do not have the same ability to defend themselves. However, if the Asian wasps cannot find the American wasps, they will attack the honey bees. They therefore pose a risk to bees and pollination. And in the orchard we depend on the work of the bees

homemade wasp bait

The important thing about this trap is the bait. For this you should know that you can use both meat and ripe fruit. These are two of the foods that attract both flies and wasps. (Surely you have seen it many times when eating out).
