When are zinnia seeds planted?

Zinnia seeds should be planted in late spring or early summer. This will give the flowers time to bloom before the winter chill sets in. Seeds should be planted at least two centimeters deep and can be planted both in pots and in the ground itself.

Zinnia Care

Zinnias are easy to care for and require little maintenance. These flowers need a sunny location and well-drained soil with nutritious, nutrient-rich soil. Regular watering of zinnias is recommended, especially during the summer months.

zinnia pruning

Zinnias also need to be pruned to keep them healthy and vigorous. This will help stimulate new flower growth and improve the shape and color of existing flowers. Consult the pruning schedule for more information.

risks

They must be watered regularly but without going too far, because it does not tolerate excess water. As they grow, and as with many flowers, the leaves and petals should not be wet, but rather the soil should be watered. And as we’ve said before, it’s important that it drains well, whether in the ground or in a pot.

Sun or shade?

Zinnias are ideal for planting in any sunny location, whether in a garden, pot or along a road. These flowers need lots of light to bloom properly, so it’s best to make sure you choose a location that receives at least six hours of direct sunlight each day.

The ideal temperature for these plants is between 15 and 25 degrees.

Compost or fertilization

As far as fertilizer is concerned, we can use any of the natural fertilizers which we recommend in La Huertina, although a homemade and foolproof one is the banana tea for plants. It is important to apply any type of natural fertilizer during the flowering season, which is when the plant really needs it.
