With the little tips that I leave you and we can have beautiful tulip flowers in the spring.
When to Plant Tulips
Everyone knows that many beautiful flowers bloom in the spring, but what many don’t realize is that those same flowers need to be planted in advance. The ideal time to plant tulips is now, that is, in the fall, when the weather has warmed up.
It is not necessary to plant tulips before, because it is not ideal. Ideally, you should plant tulip bulbs now so they can go into the ground during the winter to sprout in the spring.
This does not mean that all bulbs are planted in the fall. In fact, we have already explained how plant bulbs in spring Not long ago.

How to plant tulips in pots or in the ground
To start, the first thing we will do is check the condition of the tulip bulbs and discard any that are soft or very dry. They should be consistent to the touch. Those of you familiar with growing bulbs will know exactly what I mean.
Once we have selected the optimal ones, we are ready to plant tulips, choosing very well where to plant them in order to prepare the soil.
Where to plant tulips
The first thing we need, especially if we plant them directly in the ground, is to choose a good location. They should be placed in sunny places where they receive a minimum of 6 hours of light per day in the morning or at sunset, so an east or west orientation will be perfect.
Soil types
Although you can plant tulips in many types of soil, this culture prefers loose soil, rich in organic matter, but above all that drains very well otherwise the bulbs could rot. This is important if your soil is excessively clayey.

How to plant tulip bulbs
Once the best location has been chosen and the soil a little prepared, we are ready to plant the tulip bulbs. To do this, we will make a first hole with a depth of at least 20 centimeters.
What we’re going to do is just place the light bulb, keeping in mind that it’s pointing up like the other light bulbs, as we recently explained in the post on plants socksor as in garlic cultivation. And when we are done, we loosely cover the ground so that it is loose.
planting distance
The planting distance between the bulbs, so that the plants can develop well, is 10 centimeters. They could be planted closer together, and many people advise 5 centimeters, but I think 10 is ideal for the plants to look much better and prettier.
watering tulips
As always, after planting or sowing something, we will apply irrigation to pack the soil. This is also true when we transplant any ornamental or edible plant into a pot.

Do not water the bulbs let alone in these fall and winter times unless extremely dry weather comes.
Planting tulips in pots
To plant potted tulips, the system is similar and the sun exposure is the same. The most important thing for planting a potted tulip is to choose a good pot and a good substrate.
The pot should be deep, at least 30cm deep, although something bigger is ideal for them to develop perfectly. Drainage is also very important. I recommend a substrate that retains moisture but drains well, such as can be prepared with pearlite That is vermiculite.

The steps for planting in pots are exactly the same, although in this case the bulbs can be put together a little more, yes, never less than 3 centimeters apart.
Just like when we plant the bulbs, We cover and apply a first irrigation to pack the substrate. In this case, the risks must be further controlled, as the pots tend to retain more moisture, and therefore the risk of tulip bulb rot increases.
expect
Now we just have to wait. Do not take too much care of it, just check that the soil is not excessively dry, although at this time there are usually rains and less sun, so that the humidity of the earth is hold longer. And wait until spring for the tulips we plant in the fall to bloom.
