Bosch Professional GSH 11 VC
Editor’s note: 5 / 5 | Reward : See the price on Amazon
Designed for both demolition and rehabilitation work, the Bosch Professional GSH 11 VC is a powerful electric jackhammer. Beyond its 1,700 W, it is above all its 23 joules of blowing power that makes it so effective, especially since its blowing frequency is adjustable between 900 and 1,700 blows/minute. Weighing only 11 kg, its weight/performance ratio is optimal, and its design has also been designed to work comfortably towards the ground: its shape is elongated, its fixed handle is central and its body is perfectly balanced. Since the handles are decoupled from the motor block and the percussion mechanism, the vibrations perceived by the user remain at the same time of low intensity. Delivered with 2 flat chisels and 1 pointed chisel, the device is finally equipped with the SDS-max system for a quick and tool-free accessory change.
My opinion : I have been testing different electric jackhammers for quite some time, and no machine has succeeded in dethroning this Bosch Professional, it is by far my favorite! With its 11 kg, if it is obviously not light and its weight is felt when used vertically, it is versatile enough to suit both building tradesmen and individuals. Especially at this level of power, it really provides! With its adjustable attack strength, it does a pretty good job of whatever you ask of it. And as soon as I use it, I’m always impressed by its very good vibration management: you don’t end up with numb arms! It is a model that seems very successful to me and that is why I recommend it to you without hesitation!
Scheppach AB1600
Editor’s note: 4.5 / 5 | Reward : See the price on Amazon
With its constant power on concrete, this Scheppach electric jackhammer excels during demolition and masonry work. Equipped with a 1700 W motor, it has an impact force of 50 joules and reaches 2000 strokes per minute. Nothing can resist it, especially since it comes with 1 flat chisel and 1 chisel that can be changed very easily, without the need to use another tool. For comfortable use, the handles have also been covered with a bi-material coating which stops some of the vibrations and makes work more pleasant. With its sleek design and compact body, this jackhammer ultimately has no problem slipping into tight, tight and hard-to-reach places to get the job done!
My opinion : In terms of quality/price ratio or weight/power ratio, you will have a hard time finding better than this Scheppach AB1600! It’s an electric jackhammer that really impressed me and that I really enjoyed working with. It hits hard and doesn’t even require you to force or press it to penetrate concrete or even stone well: it does it all by itself! I wouldn’t dare to say that it handles the vibrations perfectly, but even if you feel them they are quite correct, especially for such power. And at 16 kg, we imagine that it is not very practical for vertical use, but in general it is a very good material. Solid, efficient and of high quality, it is an electric jackhammer ideal for heavy work!
Bosch Professional GSH 27 VC
Editor’s note: 4.5 / 5 | Reward : See the price on Amazon
The Bosch Professional GSH 27 VC does not present itself as a simple electric jackhammer but as a concrete breaker, and that says a lot about its demolition capabilities! With its 2000 W motor, its impact force of 62 joules and its 1000 blows per minute, it is one of the most powerful tools on the market. On concrete, stone or asphalt, its average removal capacity is 3.2 tonnes per hour, enough to move quickly on very large sites. In addition, everything has been thought out to offer a user experience as exceptional as the tool itself. Between the vibration-reducing punching mechanism and the shock-absorbing handles, muscle fatigue is much less rapid, and despite its 29.5 kg, its ergonomic handles, non-slip SoftGrip coating and low center of gravity ensure maneuverability optimal.
My opinion : This Bosch Professional electric jackhammer clearly does not do things by halves! It’s one of the most powerful machines I’ve ever gotten my hands on, so efficient it would almost make heavy lifting a pleasure! Rarely have I experienced faster crushing through concrete, and what amazed me the most was how comfortable it was to wear. The brand has done a good job of reducing vibration, and thanks to the non-slip surfaces, the jackhammer can be leaned against a wall without fear of it falling. And at nearly 30kg, not having to lift it is still a win! It is certainly a bit expensive, but given its characteristics and its quality of manufacture, it is a very good investment if you are a construction professional.
Makita HM1317C
Editor’s note: 4.5 / 5 | Reward : See the price on Amazon
For all demolition and renovation work, the HM1317C jackhammer combines efficiency and ease of use. Like many Makita tools, it is equipped with the Soft No Load system: without load, the motor slows down, which allows the device to be more precise. In addition, the setting of the striking frequency is done electronically, through 5 ranges, and this rate can go from 730 to 1450 strokes / minute (in particular thanks to the 25 joules of the machine powered by a 1510 W motor). Equipped with AVT technology, transmitted vibrations are reduced to allow longer and more pleasant use, especially during heavy work. Despite its 17 kg, this jackhammer is finally well balanced and offers an optimal grip.
My opinion : Makita is a professional and quality brand that has never let me down so far, and this electric jackhammer proved it to me once again. Halfway between the Bosch Professional and the Scheppach that I presented to you earlier, it has both the sturdiness and the power that allow it to drill through concrete or stone without the need to exert a lot of pressure. With its various systems and technologies, it also knows how to make its use pleasant, even at 17 kg you can forget about vertical demolition! For the price, Makita could also have provided at least another chisel and not just a wheeled case for easy storage, movement and transport. But it’s still a very good jackhammer, and an interesting alternative if you like this brand!
Bosch Professional GBH 2-28 F
Editor’s note: 4.5 / 5 | Reward : See the price on Amazon
The Bosch GBH 2-28 F hammer drill is equipped with a rotation stop, allowing you to add chiseling to your drilling capabilities. Thanks to its 880 W motor and its impact force of 3.2 Joules, it is also capable of delivering up to 4,000 blows per minute for all small demolition and renovation jobs. To reduce fatigue during prolonged use, it is also equipped with an active vibration damping system and a lock button to keep the trigger engaged. Complete and versatile tool, it finally comes with 2 chucks (1 SDS-plus, 1 keyless 13mm) and in its L-Boxx for easy storage and transport.
My opinion : With this Bosch GBH 2-28 F, we are no longer really in the electric jackhammer but in the chisel drill! Indeed, if the work you have planned is not very important (such as removing tiles from the floor or the wall for example), you do not necessarily need to invest in a large machine. A tool like this from Bosch can do a lot of the work: it has plenty of punching power and, weighing just 3kg, it’s much more manageable working in a vertical plane. Not to mention the fact that, at the same time, it is much more affordable than a real jackhammer! For small demolitions therefore, it is this device (my favorite in this category of tools) that I would recommend.
